One of my husband's nephews, a incautious sort who'd do just about anything trying to get high when he was young, smoked some of that, fresh, and went blind for almost a week. He was in the hospital for it. But I never heard of the antics mentioned in that article. Still, it was the main 'trippy' ingredient in the medieval flying ointment, so it's possible.
