I was the banjo player for a couple years for the High Ridge bluegrass gospel band

Scottish immigrants fled to America so they could own land which was all but impossible due to English landlords. As they did, they affected music in America with bluegrass, country, western, shaped notes Appalachian gospel music,etc.

Their Celtic legacy is quite remarkable.

From there, bluegrass seeded rockabilly, which in turn affected even is the genesis of rock and roll.


There's no Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry without bluegrass.
