I tend to agree. He was a complete con trying to get out of his punishment. He told the interviewer what he wanted to hear because it was his last Hail Mary to escape his fate. Conning and scamming until his final breath, convinced he's smarter than everyone.

There sadly are some purely evil sociopaths.

Science has actually proven and continues to prove that the brain of sociopaths get triggered in ways that normal people's don't get triggered. Their brain actually has physical qualities that differentiate their brains from people with normal brains.

That is not an excuse--there are people with sociopathic brains all over the place and they do not act out. But there is a spectrum of sociopathic brains and there are situations that do impact if the person gets sent over the edge.
