Of course there have been freaks and pedophiles throughout history but I truly believe it was more isolated then and MUCH worse now. Society in the 1950s and 60s wouldn't tolerate aberrant behavior like it does now. Their idea of great sin was 'having an affair'.

The 'greatest generation', my parents, grew up under strict discipline from their parents, and everyone was concerned about their 'reputation' and 'what would the neighbors think?' We kids behaved OR ELSE. School report cards had grades for academic achievement AND citizenship. This kind of attitude was reflected through the entire culture.

I graduated from high school in the mid-1960s in California with almost 4,000 students in our school. There was exactly ONE pregnant student, a senior, and she received private tutoring on school grounds. She was not allowed to be in classes with us. She was ashamed and wouldn't talk to anyone. Now over a third of ALL babies born in this country are to unmarried mothers.

The easy availability of low vibe entertainment these days along with constant negativity of rap music, and the lack of parental nurture and discipline has landed us right where we are.
