Calcium blood test
Hello as you know I overdosed vitamin A and got nasty symptoms.Today I received results of my blood calcium test
Ionized calcium 1,09 mmol/L (range is from 0,98-1,13 mmol/L)

Total Calcium 2,63 mmol/l (range 2.15-2,5)

So I probably have mild hypercalcemia

" Unfortunately, cancer-related hypercalcemia has a poor prognosis, as it is most often associated with disseminated disease. Eighty percent of patients will die within a year, and there is a median survival of 3 to 4 months."

Does it mean that I also have only 4 months to live ?I don't have cancer .Do I need the treatment?Or I'm just panicking too much

Re: Calcium blood test
Same here but the mayo clinic found that it was sarcoidosis. Not very common, but is happening with more frequency these days. My doc had seen one case before me in his 30+ years of practice. Since my diagnosis he's had 3 more patients diagnosed with it. It is managable with Prednisone.

It is lethal in short term (few months) without treatment?

Why do you think this? Did the doctor diagnose you?

Your ionized calcium is within the normal range and your total calcium is only slightly elevated.

Have you seen or talked to your doctor about the results yet?

Bernie Mac died from it. It responds well to steroids but can be a chronic disease. If it's what you have you need to get treated sooner rather than later. But there are other things that can cause elevated calcium. Thyroid disease is one of them.

You’re probably being a little paranoid (OP)

Read fasting can save your life by Shelton... start eating raw, leafy greens, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, etc. believe on the lord Jesus Christ for remission of sins. Start exercising, ideally cardio like running in fresh air. You will be fine.

Recently got high blood pressure (last 140/90 but was higher) .Tried to determine what was happening and done blood and urine test were normal.Doctor told me that my problems are related to overdose of supplements especially vitamin A which is fat soluble( Some times I took 4 tablets each one 10000 IU totally 360000 IU in 3 weeks) also something called Icarin.Since I stopped using supplements I started to have high blood pressure ,loss of apetite, fatigue ,depression ,5 days ago).Doctor called it substance withdrawal -when you stop using certain supplements (that you overdosed) your body starts to have symptoms of withdrawal. When should situation start to improve?Does anyone have similar symptoms (vitamin A high blood pressure overdose after few days withdrawal symptoms and loss of appetite).

doctor told me to stop supplementation of anything and wait for improvement. He told me guy you took Hiroshima amount of vitamin A .

Re: Calcium blood test
Pillar, I think you're going to start feeling better soon. It's been almost 2 weeks now since you've stopped taking the Vitamin A. I think (based on what I've read) you normally would have started feeling better already, but it may be taking longer for your levels to normalize based on the amount you took in such a short time period.

Hang in there my friend. : )

I don't think you should be asking for any treatment if the exact problem hasn't been figured out yet. I realize you know you overdid the Vit A, but everything else seems up in the air as to the exact cause and how to proceed. If you aren't getting answers from your doctor, then I would get another opinion.

Wishing you the best and hope it's resolved soon!

Re: Calcium blood test
Calcification and Its Treatment with Magnesium and Sodium Thiosulfate

According to the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center a high level of calcium in the blood, called hypercalcemia, may become a medical emergency. This disorder is most commonly caused by cancer or parathyroid disease but underneath the primary etiology is a magnesium deficiency. Hypercalcemia is commonly attributed to cancer treatment. Severe hypercalcemia is a medical emergency that can be avoided if magnesium levels are brought up to normal.

Magnesium and calcium work together to control muscle action though calcium becomes a problem when there is not enough magnesium to control calcium’s actions. Calcium becomes a slow acting poison (often decades of build up) to tissues all over the body when in excess relative to magnesium in deficiency. Trace mineral symptoms of excess or deficiency depend on their ratios to other elements. In the event of calcification, it is not particularly a high calcium level that results in the formation of a stone or spur, but calcium being high in ratio to magnesium. 50%<

It may take more than two weeks to get blood chemistry leveled out.

It may take two or more months.

Numbers that are only slight low or high from the recommended ranges are not usually a serious problem.

And the ranges are not absolute. Different references will have slightly varying values sometimes.

Seems way to soon to hit a panic button.
