Quoting: looshifer That’s nice. Tolls suck, I’m sure people appreciate that. :) *INTJ* If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? Anonymous Coward User ID: 75892677 Germany 11/23/2017 08:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There’s two things I’ve been doing every year around this time. I’ve come to realize these things are actually selfish, because it makes me feel good, but I hope other people feel good with my efforts. Quoting: Mr. Poopy Butthole One, I leave $100 at the grocery store. I tell the cashier to hold it until a young family comes through with about $100 or more of gorceries. Yeah, I always wonder if the cashier just keeps it, but I try to pick a well known cashier. But, even if they keep it, I just assume they needed it. Two, I prepay about $30 in gas at the gas station at the pump I just used. I leave a note on the pump near the credit card reader, saying I prepaid their gas and “Happy Holidays”. Feels good to be generous. Totally naive in my eyes. Sorry. Many cashiers just keep it, because they think they need it like billion others on this planet, when you hand them 100$. The same with the gas station. Those who really need it, probably do not get your generous donation. Furthermore... what do you think about, when you do something similar next year sometimes in April or July?! |

In any case, I see no issue with giving cash anonymously to strangers like this. Well, if you don't care who gets it in the end, you could also give it to your parents or use it for a present for your parents or a good friend... but when you really want to help somebody in need, then go to the supermarket buy a bunch of food with your 100$ and give the food to 2 or 3 people directly. I bet there are homeless persons in your area as well. Generousity is nice, but when you just hand it out like "here, give it to someone" or "the ones who need it, will get it somehow" its just an act for your ego. nothing more. People, who really want to help others think about the things they do and they care about who gets it. This holiday thing for me is like people who claim that going to church is an imporant part of their faith, but only do it in christmas time... like, "now is the time, where we have to be thankful, so I'm nice as well". Why being generous when its this special time?! Be generous as often as you can and not jsut when society tells you to do so. This is no attack or so, but to me it's like, "So, I was nice today, now I can be an asshole for the next 365 days"... know what I mean?! |

If it isn't about how much you give or who you give it to it's someone bitching about the time of year you decide to give. November/December, for you morons out there, is a rough month for many. Work slows down for a lot of people that time of year, heating costs go up drastically, and parents scrape together what little they have left over after bills, if there's anything left, to do something for their children on Christmas. Take Christmas out of the picture and it's still extremely hard on many families. Time of year absolutely makes a difference. The OP is a kind person. He can give any fucking time of the year he wants. You do-gooders can handle April, May and the other months. Last Edited by Debauchery on 11/25/2017 04:42 PM And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |
