Prices of Produce
Visits to the super markets fill me with dread and disgust at the price of produce. A green Bell pepper goes for one dollar each. Tomatoes are treated and priced as if they were gems.
A head of cauliflower 4 dollars. Pears 1 dollar each and oranges also 1 dollar each.
What is causing this explosion of produce prices?
Any ideas of what justifies this?

Demand as those who make $$$ don't eat "food in a box." This is a deep sociological event. This post made me think - I get store coupons, specific to my purchases and while I buy tons of fresh fruits and veggies, I get zero coupons for them. The coupons are always for boxed food like raisins or meat or toilet tissue.
Just another sign of the ever growing chasm between rich and poor and no more evident than in food purchases and point of sale (i.e. Walmart (food in a box) versus Whole Foods (lots of healthy $$$$$). I think Bezos might change that up a bit with his purchase of Whole Foods. We shall see.
