...

She shouldn't get a free pass but autistic children can be extremely violent. The kids that are like that need to be institutionalized.

It would be interesting to know more about the parents and what goes on in the home. It's not often that children are violent just for the hell of it, like they were just born rotten.
 Quoting: Debauchery

The kid had a car accident. She crashed through a wall, but the car did not completely enter the residents. No one was injured including the 11 year old girl. Most likely it was not an intentional act, as children have trouble driving straight.

Also there is nothing to imply the kid was violent outside the way she used her words. Those words were most likely applied inappropriately and mistakenly. Autism is a communication disorder after all. Without knowing the individual you can't take what they say at face value.

Did you see the damage? Did you see that they were fortunate the couch protected them? There very well could have been deaths and it was sheer luck that there wasn't. The child tried to take the keys before. This was negligence of the parents AND the child, however unfortunate it is that she is autistic, is a danger to society as a whole. It sucks, but that is the way that it is. If the child is THAT influenced by things and can't exercise self-control, then there is a problem. I don't want to die because someone liberal ass parent decides to take a break from watching their disabled kid long enough to allow this to happen. I don't want my kids to die because of it.

Society as a whole needs to stop pandering to this kind of crap and look at the good of the whole. Sure, they should extend help to those with disabilities, but it should not be at the expense of the safety of other kids.

No body can be expected to be a complete and utter jail warden and to keep a perfect eye on their kids all the time at age 11 years old, especially when the kid is good for most of it. That is exhausting.

Beside the 11 year old girl still should be treated as much as possible as a typical 11 year old. Seriously, how would you feel growing up in a prison environment and never given any freedom or responsibility to be like the average person. Nope for healthy development people need autonomy until proven otherwise just like with almost all other kids. This is a rare event, there is no evidence she is violent otherwise. Thank god no one got hurt and I doubt it will happen again.

If it was a one time occurrence, I might agree, but they stated that she tried to take the keys multiple times. That makes her a danger to other people, especially kids. At one point is one person's "freedom to be treated like an 11 year old" more important than the safety of others? How is that fair to the others around them?

I'm sorry, but there is a line and she crossed it. She tried to take the keys multiple times. If she isn't cognitive enough to understand the danger of that and takes the keys anyway and drives into a house, then action needs to be taken to protect OTHER CHILDREN. Your heart is in the right place, but your vision is clouded.
I'm not saying she needs to be locked away forever. BUT if they can't even get across to her how dangerous her actions are, then something needs to be done.

I guarantee that if YOUR child had been killed by this scenario, you'd be singing a different tune.

The other alarming factor about this story was the fact that when this story was posted on a local FaceBook page, commenters that were upset and concerned about this child's violent actions were insulted and told that "they shouldn't judge, because it's just "a child and the child was Autistic". As if the child should get a free pass for any offense, because he/she is Autistic. The level of violence that society is willing to put up with is alarming, in my opinion.

Depending on her cognitive abilities, that might be part of the answer too. She does not deserves them and the situation needs to be discussed daily so she comes to terms with it. Drill into her head too, that she lucky to be alive and will be a lucky kids for not being taken away from her parents. That should fix her her bad behavior.

I think that if you have to explain something like this there is a problem.

Re: 'I did it to kill people': 11-year old Louisville girl crashes truck into home
Let me tell you why this AUTISTIC girl did this:

They have very black and white thinking

They copy what they see - they do not forget what they have seen and they do not have the same internal "reasoning" or "filter" others have as to whether this is something people actually do

They can have poor judgment as to what is and is not an extreme, unsafe, or abnormal action - hence the strong issues they have with social skills

They lack empathy for the feelings of others, do not think within the same constructs we do as far as how something impacts others - they can "care" and "feel", but they are clueless about the way others "think" about things - lack of a strong ability for empathizing with what their fellow man goes through, what matters to others, the needs of others, etc. This does not mean that they cannot be kind or affectionate with people but there is a mental limitation.

None of these statements fully describe any one person as autism is a big umbrella with many people under it and each one has their own challenges, strengths, limitations, and special skills, too. Some are much worse off than others.

They can almost seem to have antisocial or narcissistic leanings, but it is all neurological and not really true antisocial or narcissistic disorder.

Thank you, the only thing is, at least with my son there is some empathy, but only with people they know well and interact with on a daily basis. He is very concerned about his family and class mates.

Yes, true, my son is much like that at times, but I have also seen the dark side, lol.

You forgot to read the last sentence of the article where it says Sewerville Metro PD is not pressing any charges against the shitlet even after she repeatedly stated she intended to kill people.

Holy fuck, it's wanton endagerment AT LEAST.

I know, it's very suspicious. The womb turd probably came from some very highly politically connected family (probably related to state AG, etc).

You don't just have police not charging for vehicular assault, wanton endangerment and a bunch of other stuff.

Yep, very violent. My sister has an autistic daughter and when her meds were on the fritz, I was being called out of school everyday just about because police were at were my house. I witnessed her daughter try to suffocate her mother by putting a plastic bag over her head, almost try to break her neck by sitting on it and jumping at the same time. she ripped the deadbolt off my front door with her bare hands, along with my garage door lock with her bare hands. I mean it was like looking into the abyss. Her daughter seems to have gotten better by being in a home away from her mom and being placed on the correct medications because she did save her mother when she had a stroke on the highway. Without her help and call to 911, my sister would be dead right now. However, that was scary time when she was living with me. There were times where I had no choice but to have her arrested.
