Try to that with the cheese one and you won't be so lucky. Things with chicken fat/broth will also go rancid after a few years. It depends on the powder. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1897079 United States 12/13/2017 03:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why did you waste a pound of filet mignon on it? Should have tried it with a piece of 14 Y. Old frozen Hamburger meat to match. Try that next time and let us know how it tastes. Quoting: PhotogSV I took a risk. The box & it's contents were in perfect, near mint condition. I thought, what the hey, why not go full tilt and use the filet i bought for dinner (to broil, medium well)? It came out much better than expected. I didn't get sick, then my wife finally caved in and tried it and was in total agreement. I'll probably find even older food items/products knowing our pantries. Sometimes because of some of our parents & grandparents and the way they were brought up - during or after the great depression of the 1930's - we too tend to save EVERYTHING! - or find it hard to part with some things. It's been a long while since I cleaned out our pantry and just thought, why not? I don't even use any product like that anymore, a.k.a. 'hamburger helper'. I took a chance and it was worth it. Also, we had just recentlu seen a tv news program discussing 'how long should you keep food items and is it dangerous to consume long expired items' - and it was of the opinion of the presenter that even very long expired food items are still good to eat. I also not that pre-packaged "prepper" items claim that they are good for 20 years or more so, I guess it's a valid argument. |

I sauteed a pound of chopped filet mignon first to add to it, which helped. AND chopped fresh garlic & parsely, plus a splash of tobasco sauce. The end result? Absolutely delicious! What about the next day? |

It's all the same. The chemicals keep it fresh. It was an experiment, it was good to know we can keep old foods, at least some old foods and we won't die in an emergency situation without it, God forbid... |

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1897079 United States 12/16/2017 02:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Preparation Add olive to a large pan over medium heat. Once the oil begins to shimmer, add the mushrooms and cook until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer the mushrooms to a plate. In the same pan, add the butter. Add the onion, ground beef, and garlic powder. Stir until the meat is browned, breaking it up as you stir. Drain any excess fat and return the pan to the stove. Add the flour and paprika. Stir until thick, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add the sherry, and stir, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Add the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the egg noodles, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to simmer. Cover the pan with a lid. Stir often, until the noodles are tender, about 8 to 10 minutes. Return the mushrooms to the pan and stir to combine. Add the sour cream and stir. Top with chopped parsley. Enjoy! |
