John Cleese on the benefits of Extremism

Extremism does not require hatred. Nor does it require the false Left/Right dichotomy.

What extremism does require is principles. The key is choosing your principles wisely, with both your mind and your heart.

With respect to principles, moderation is the result of a weak, compromised character.

Noble words. But every extremist thinks he is defending liberty, and his liberty can be very different to yours or mine.

So the liberty of Islamist head-choppers, triggered social justice warriors, and John Locke are basically equivalent?

Why not concede to the Islamist or the SJW out of moderation - is that what you're arguing?

The other thing we gave the world, was the English langauge. Much bastardised by the Yanks, but it has been left relatively unscathed and if you want to be honest, it is the global language of choice for airlines and global proffesionals.

Most intelligent people understand what Cleese is saying, but you need it spelt out for you in Hollwood Hills lettering. Cleese is not going to do that for you, so you have to understand context and content, which seems to be illusive to you. Never mind.
