why would someone cheat in an online game?

I dont know. Years ago I tried yahoo chess. They cheated on it, set the time so you would lose if you didnt make a move in .001 seconds.

Not a clue on that or why they would cheat at risk.

Online cheating is as old as online games themselves. I remember people using aimbots at QuakeWorld within the first year it was released, 20 years ago. Other types of games (realtime strategy) were (are) no exception.

I don't understand it either. There can't be any satisfaction in it, unless you simply get off on being a troll.

From my experience, there are plenty of cheaters in ANY of the major online games. It's all about the ego.

It's a mind that requires reassurance of self ability and intelligence..

Most of the people who really "cheat" at online games do so for the challenge of deciphering and beating the online code. These individuals exists but rarely allow themselves to be known, even gladly accepting losses to mask their true intentions.

No, my friend, what you are dealing with is a lamer.

Maybe it's time to congratulate the cheater and hang up the game and go do something more productive in your life. Exercise, work, do the dishes, mow the grass. Something besides child's play.

Why would someone send a SWAT team to kill someone over an online game? Who has that kind of free time??

Hmm...Well it could be a situation where "SAW met SPEED" kind of thing.
He had to keep the data speeds at a certain level and also win games earning him points to buy minutes of life with.
