Look at what power plants are used for:

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76103565

I've actually seen most of that guys videos. It is quite interesting and plausible imo.

Synopsis - The smokestacks from power plants accumulate water vapor in the atmosphere which is then steered and manipulated by nextrad weather radar stations to steer/empower/dismantle storm systems.

I think the 9.1 in Japan set most of this swinging weather shit in motion. It tilted the earth on its' axis and now, the core of the earth is trying hard to right itself back into synchronicity with the forces of gravity again.

United Launch Alliance is set to kick off its 2018 launch campaign with a Delta 4 rocket flight Thursday from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Gusty winds prevented rollback of the launch pad’s mobile gantry in preparation for fueling Wednesday, forcing a 24-hour delay. Liftoff of the the Delta 4 from Space Launch Complex-6 is scheduled for a window opening at 1 p.m. PST (4 p.m. EST; 2100 GMT) Thursday with a top secret spy satellite for the National Reconnaissance Office.

Re: The Weather Thread
My husband has PD.. we're in a snow belt.. very long driveway (500 + ft)

Having to pay for someone to plow when it snows every day or every other day can get expensive so he bought me a snowblower a couple of years ago (which I absolutely love btw.. Troy-Bilt Storm Tracker with tracks instead of tires) so I like to check to see how much snow is in the forecast.

I've noticed as of late.. the sites I use are not using inches anymore. Most notably Weather Underground. Now there are simply dashes --- and mostly % instead.

Why? Are they so inaccurate that is less incriminating to not put actual inches?

Thank you for providing a thread I can vent about this on. hf

Just checked W U and they have revamped their whole look.

I miss the simple "inches" forecast verysad
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74476876

Interesting observation...

hmm

I remember when a polar vortex was called an arctic cyclone. Now they name all winter storms which i find odd. It's probably for fear mongering honestly. Get people out buying supplies.

But it is weird they are changing from inches to percentages. Guess they don't want people catching on to how incapable they are when it comes to forecasting.

It's not necessarily the crazy weather, it's the frequency that it is occurring. These once in 100yr events are happening every other year. It's taking a toll on everything. Last week, -14. Today 57. Wtf?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76070257

I think it's all cyclical in nature but your right. Wonder if we'll have a "Biblical, once in 1000 year storm" in 2018.

Yesterday I travelled from Volgograd to Moscow:
the whole area is without snow and just slighly cold everywhere which is horribly strange.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75123527

Wish we could get more input like this from other countries outside of the U.S.! The weather strangeness is everywhere.

Are the Areas between Volgograd and Moscow usually covered with snow this time of year?

Now THAT.... Is an interesting thought. maybe that correlates with what scientists are saying for 2018, that the earth is going to slow its rotation down. They are saying that the slow in rotation could cause more large earthquakes...

Wonder what that means for the magnetic field, jetstream and weather patterns?

Firefighters Share Video of Prius ‘Bobsledding’ in Burbank Mudflow
While the harsh rain that lashed Southern California areas scarred by wildfire early this week brought by far the most deadly and catastrophic consequences in Santa Barbara County, a large amount of property damage was sustained across Los Angeles County, too, as evidenced in a video shared Wednesday by Burbank firefighters.

Friday is supposed to get up to 55, then rapidly drop to 13. Then freezing rain. Then 2 ft of snow, not including lake effect. They're predicting possible 3ft totals in most areas but more if you live near or on the lake.
