A fast-moving storm late Sunday afternoon knocked out power to more than 9,000 customers in Schenectady County, according to National Grid. The storm hit just after 4 p.m. and brought heavy rain to the area. Downed trees and wires were reported. On Erie Boulevard, a tree appeared to have been hit by lightning and then took down a power pole. One downed tree damaged the iconic Mike's Hot Dogs sign. A video later circulated showing water going through a portion of nearby Rivers Casino. The storm also damaged Freedom Park in Scotia, forcing Sunday evening's concert there to be postponed, Glenville Supervisor Chris Koetzle said on Twitter.
