Five people died and over 2600 people affected by days of winds and heavy rains which has lashed out across Sri Lanka since last weekend, the Disaster Management Center said here Wednesday.Over 200 people had been evacuated to safe locations while over 50 houses have been partially or fully damaged.

The Disaster Management Center said that tri forces were on alert and would assist in rescue operations if rains continued.The Meteorology Department, in its latest weather update said more rains were expected in the coming day due to the northeast monsoons gradually establishing over the country...
