No, the Marines landed on the 13th but didn't lock up the Queen until the 17th which then became the date of the official overthrow. A puppet government was then setup which later petitioned for annexation. However, the annexation was never ratified. Even the vote for statehood was completely illegitimate in that the plebiscite only contained 2 options - become a state or remain a territory. There is suppose to be the third option of returning to sovereignty.

I was always a fan of sovereignty, but now that I live on Maui, I would rather not be eaten in my sleep :P
