Fuck... If I got a nuke missile warning, I would jump into the nearest drainpipe myself.

NOT so stupid. When I was growing up in the 60's going into a storm drain if one was out and away from any shelter was TAUGHT AS A GOOD REACTION! *It gets you away from the flash and direct heat of the blast.
*It gets you away from the blowing debris of the blast.
*IF you are far enough away from the blast so the over pressure wave is not too intense ... you may actually survive with minimal injuries by getting into a storm drain!!
VERY GOOD reaction by the parents if no real shelter was around!! MUCH better than trying to ride out a blast in a wooden above ground structure!!
