Inventor Mysteriously Dies After Creating A Car Attachment That Gets 100 Miles Per Gallon Gas
Ogle’s creation would let any car get 100 miles per gallon – and he unveiled before the world

While some people believe the story of American inventor Thomas Ogle is a myth or urban legend, the reality is that Ogle designed and implemented a “vapor carburetor” that allowed a vehicle to achieve over 100 miles per gallon of gasoline in 1977—with no carbon emissions.

Sadly, Ogle’s invention would never see the light of day.

After surviving an assassination attempt, Olge subsequently died under suspicious circumstances only months later.

“Are you afraid of oil companies or the Arabs coming after you?” journalist Ron Laytner presciently asked Ogle in 1978—three year prior to his death.

“No. Not any more. I’ve had too much publicity. If I’d kept my invention a secret I might be worrying. But there’s nothing to worry about any more,” said Ogle.

That's what they did back in the day. Now they just offer the inventor a few hundred million dollars to buy the patent and then lock it away.

Or back it down to “profitable standards.” Like Tesla for instance.
Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth.

Re: Inventor Mysteriously Dies After Creating A Car Attachment That Gets 100 Miles Per Gallon Gas
I remember a lot of those 100mpg scams in the 70's.

The thing is gasoline burns at a 14:1 air fuel mix.
You can lean it to 16:1 but it overheats and misfires.
During WW2, they used Water injection to increase the range of aircraft by leaning the mixture.
They could only use it once they got to altitude because it reduced the engines power.
Best power mixture is around 12:1.

Now there's an old trick that old timers used to get across the Southwest where there were few gas stations.

Make sure your tires were aired up good.
You slowly accelerate to 40mph and shut off the engine and coast.
Any faster then 40 and you're wasting gas gas fighting aerodynamic drag.
Once you coast down to about 10mph, restart the engine and repeat.
You don't want to coast to a dead stop because you want to carry your momentum.

Doing this can stretch your gas to nearly 100mpg under the right conditions.

It's only obvious that if you coast a mile down hill with your engine off, you've gone a mile without using any gas.
Getting back was another story.

Reciprocating Engines are at best 20-30% efficient.

Railroad locomotives are diesel hybrid electric with improved efficiency.

Re: Inventor Mysteriously Dies After Creating A Car Attachment That Gets 100 Miles Per Gallon Gas
Horseshit. A car that gets 20 mpg at 20 percent thermal efficiency would need to be 100 percent thermally efficient to get 100mpg.

No fancy carb is gonna do that. This would mean the radiator woild have to be ice cold, the exhaust cool to the touch, and no friction losses in the rotating assembly.
