A documentary I watched in 1965 stated that ALL nuclear reactors have a lifespan
of about 60 years due to the breakdown of steel and concrete housing/containment
vessels which are subject to radiation which disintegrates the materials over time.

So the German Scientists knew 60 years ago that one by one the reactors which litter
the northern hemisphere would become brittle, crumble, and if not shut down, meltdown.
