Used to work overnight (overseas) trading desk 2007-2009...Alibaba IPO times... for a certain online US broker, anyway what always seemed to happen was the fact that the Asian investors tend to be the ones to catch the knife so to speak. Maybe they have more of a knack for gambling and see the market this way vs. mom and pop yuppy 401K holders here in US, who hesitate to pull the trigger on the buy.
If you look back at these dips the Asian mkts seemed to be the ones to, get us back in check. At least positive for the next few trading days.
