Cryptos seem to be in their own little world... for now. The futures have affected them some, but financial news does not move them at all. The only news that seems to move them is talk by governments of banning them

Initial shock. I see a better report on some other economic news coming out in the afternoon, ending the DOW in the green.

Could be. Just reporting what is going on this morning. After the last few days people were lulled back to sleep.

It's recovered some, so we'll see.

Floating around -200 now, we'll see how stocks open in 1/2 hour.

10 Year has dropped a little, but is still 2.868. Treasuries have seemed to be a driver of the volatility as of late.

I disagree. Inverse VIX ETF's failed AFTER the drop, not before. I think they are a symptom, not the cause. I don't disagree that ETF's are a time bomb, though.

Markets open, Dow down modestly at -134

Inflation reality check.

For years and years I bought Thomas's English Muffins at Walmart for $2.49 . Yesterday I bought some for $2.99.....that's nearly a 20% increase overnight.

It may sound trivial but it's a solid fact. That's just one thing...one item ...that increased 20% in one day. Does anyone's paycheck increase that much in one day?? I think not.

The price of food has been going through the roof for years, but they have been hiding it by decreasing the portion sizes in packages.

Yes that's true. My Evolve dog food was in 15 pound bags...then they raised the price 2 dollars and put in 14 pounds.

The high class Peroni beer I like is put in bottles at 11 ounces instead of the normal 12....and they charge the same price.
