Homeschool Freedoms at Risk
Aloha GLP Friends,

I know there's not much love for Hawaii here and that is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY understandable. But, I ask for a moment of consideration in the name of freedom.

Today - Hawaii Legislators will be voting on limiting the rights of HomeSchool parents by requiring background checks and possible Child Welfare Services checks, not because there is evidence of abuse, but simply because they choose to teach their children themselves.

There are many problems with this Bill, but in terms of Freedoms, 4th Amendment Rights are violated:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

If Hawaii takes HomeSchool rights then it opens the door for other states to do the same.

If you're so inclined, signing the petition against this would be appreciated and helpful.

Thank you hf

Sorry sugar plum. This is war between good people and Democrats and Hawaii is occupied territory. You need to GTFO and get to a state that is free. Florida is a great choice. Specifically Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties. Panhandle including Santa Rosa and Walton counties are rural and colder but still free. Try Southeast Missouri, too.

I understand and appreciate your point, but need to fight the good fight here. In the case of homeschooling, every state will be vulnerable once Hawaii and California are "under control". I'm a believer that every bit helps and there are some very good people here standing for good reasons. hf

Thanks beeches! Yep, kids are not safer in public schools than they are at home and/or with family. There are many good reasons to homeschool but it's a constant battle because TPTB benefit greatly from controling and "owning" our children.

This isn't about Hawaii, it's about Freedoms...hf

I agree. And, it wasn't long ago that homeshooling was illegal. It is a battle every day to maintain this right. The erosion occurs quickly and they are using Hawaii, because it's any easy target?, as the initial battle ground.

SB 2323 is unique and no state in our nation comes close to what this bill is proposing!! Hawaii would be a "first" and NOT in a good way.

Thanks beeches. It's been an exhausting 48 hours working on defeating this Bill. I appreciate the bump since I'm running low on energy. I debated whether or not I would post this here, but the fact that this is a issue of Freedoms that could chip away all HomeSchooler's freedoms I thought I'd give it a shot. It'd be a shame for this to be a sign of things to come for all states.

Thanks for the support!

There's a similar Bill in the works in California. They are hitting the soft states first. When "they" have the control of our children, they've got us. This was the first line of attack, I believe with the state of affairs were in now, as a country.

Please be alert people, they will use every subversive tactic available, and we won't know what hit us.

Right? And the Florida shooting. 17 dead. Schools are the ripest places for our kids to be "indoctrinated", abused, killed, and corrupted. Are we blind to this area of vulnerablity?

HSLDA's Analysis

Senate Bill 2323 requires that notices be approved by the superintendent of your child's school district. In addition to having social services check the family for any history of child abuse or neglect, this bill would also require the superintendent to conduct a background check of the child's parents or legal guardians within 5 business days. Parents must provide consent to both the social services check and background check in their notice of intent, and failure to provide this consent will result in an automatic denial by the superintendent. Parents cannot legally homeschool their children until after their notice has been approved. If the superintendent denies approval, the family's only recourse is to file a petition in family court, where they bear the burden of proving by clear and convincing evidence that homeschooling is appropriate for their child.

Thanks BiblioPhil, I really think the word does need to get out. I'm probably not the best messenger right now due to exhaustian.

I do have enough green to Global Pin this, wondering if you think it's worth the effort? It's pertinent in light of the shooting. It chips away at our freedoms.

Maybe I need to word my Title differently or change body of message...

Thoughts?hmm

No need to change anything. It is pretty straight forward. Anyone who is paying attention to what is going on in home schooling in this country will be attracted to the thread by its title, I think.

A couple years ago, or so, Obama/Holder went to the SC and had home schooling removed as a "basic human right." This was regarding that famous case with the German family who had sought asylum here in this country years back under Bush for being persecuted in their country for home schooling their kids. DHS took their kids away and were threatening to deport them. After they got the ruling they were looking for, DHS informed the family of a stay of execution and they let them have their kids back and allowed them to stay in the country. They had only used their family's case to accomplish their agenda.

This was to pave the way for a country-wide ban on home schooling, I believe. The progressive machine keeps chipping away at these rights state by state, regardless of who is in the Oval Office.

People need to stay on top of this.
