My teacher recommended my parents put me on a medication for hyperactivity, which for some reason my pediatrician gladly prescribed. I kept getting out of my seat and going to the front of the class. That's it. I wouldn't stay in my seat.
I remember after starting the meds I'd cry over nothing. I'd get upset at the slightest thing. I was very depressed.
I was an advanced reader. I could easily read books 4th graders read when I was in first grade. That's when the meds started. At some point someone paid enough attention to realize I was holding my nose almost against the book in order to read the smaller print in the higher level books.
My mom had my eyes checked. I was severely nearsighted. I got glasses, and my mom threw out the meds.
In just the short time I was on medication it had very negative side effects.
Quoting: Storm* I remember when having to take 'Meds' in school meant you were weird Now, If you don't take 'Meds' you're an outcast .
