The Constitution is the law of the land. The 2nd amendment says "shall not be infringed' when referring to our right to bear arms. If concealed carry permit holders were allowed to carry in schools, none of these shooting would have happened. Let everyone carry, and the criminals would not get far, if they decided to shoot up a school, or anywhere else..

We just need rational and reasonable regulations.

For example, anyone who wants to purchase a gun should have to take a gun safety course, and pass, to obtain a purchase permit in order to purchase a firearm LEGALLY. The course should take a couple of days and have a cost sufficient to cover the overhead. My law abiding firearm enthusiast friends have no issues with this.

Day 1 - Classroom - study principles and learn about firearms and firearm safety. Videos, hands on(dummy/training weapons), quizzes.

Day 2 - workshop. A hands on class where you learn to disassemble and clean and maintain your firearm. Class to provide ‘dummy’ training guns.

Day 3 - field. Learn to safety shoot a gun similar to what you intend to purchase. Work with qualified instructors.

The instructiors shall be trained and qualified to identify high risk persons or behaviors that warrant a failure or possible referral for further investigation.

If at anytime you demonstrate behavior or inability that could otherwise be considered unsafe, you fail the course.

After X number of failures, you are considered unqualified to safely own and operate firearms LEGALLY.

Think about it like a motorcycle endorsement for a drivers license. You pass once and you’re good to go. Fail too many times and you aren’t qualified to operate it legally on the roads. Simple stuff. Maybe require recertification every X number of years.

You want to own military weapons, fine, pass the classes and tests and earn the permit. Proper training for dangerous tools, just like in the military.

No laws or regulations will matter to a criminal who intends to procure a firearm for the commission of crime - they are criminals and don’t legally possess the firearm. Period. They will obtain one if that is their intent.

Legislation shall provide extreme penalties for those who willingly and intentionally obtain and firearms illegally.

About schools and other high risk public buildings:

Single point of entry with a metal detector and properly trained security guards. Specifically In schools, security guards will have specialized training to deal With mentally ill juveniles.

I'm sure someone already said this, but an armed society is a polite society.

There is NOTHING that will prevent crazy people from murdering if that is what they want to do. Nothing. However, if everyone was trained (not certified, just trained) in firearms and packed as much as they could carry, anyone acting insane and shooting innocent people would get taken out right quick.

So we don't need gun control, beyond solid training in their use.

We do need better care for mentally ill people. But that should be solely a state issue or a county issue, not in the purview of the feds. Laws don't make people act right.

Florida didn't even have basic licensing/registration - just a three day waiting period.

Many psychos can wait three days -- even when they aren't being armed by their CIA or FBI asset handlers.

I advocate protecting the right of self defense for all freeminded poeple against any and all people, factions, groups, governments, or animals that have the means to harm them.

I oppose any and all forms of anti self defense regulations and laws that are not or cannot be equally applied to any and all forces who have the means to harm free people.

If you want to take guns away from free people, show me the plan that can be implemented that takes them away from every single person alive (no exceptions). Then propose an alternative method by which a free person may defend themselves that does not require that they be genetically predisposed to be a physically violent brute who also has the time to train several hours a day in physical combat.

I don't think anyone can come up with any solution that looks much different than private ownership of firearms.

I live in the Netherlands. And fully support the 2nd amendment. You guys better keep em oiled and loaded.

Sure; when those kind of retards take classes in how to exercise their First Amendment rights, I'll get right on endorsing classes to exercise my Second Amendment rights. Can you imagine such a thing? The dumbass from above would not be able to post his drivel on the internet without his training and certification. Gun Control means: Only the State will have guns!

I live in a Constitutional carry state, and I have a simple solution. Anyone that believes people should not have guns should get rid of their guns. I buy guns, if you don't want to give them to the government. You can't thrown them in the garbage, so you will have to either give them to the government or sell them. The feds are not going to give you any money, so you should sell them to me, and get some of your money back. Nobody will force you to get another gun, and I sure as hell wont use my guns to defend you, against your wishes.

Maybe the best option would be to stop drug companies from selling drugs that turn depressed citizens into psychotic killers.

I don't think a marijuana conviction should preclude one from self defense
