THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTAIN ANTI MATTER
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77827742

Wrong. There are multiple ways to contain antimatter dumbass.

If there weren't any way to do so PET scan machines couldn't work as they require a supply of positrons to do the imaging that they do. Positrons are anti protons.

The AF though has long since moved past needing to store them since they discovered a method of creating a beyond unity method of creating positrons on demand that causes a Cascade effect giving far more positrons than should be possible given the input power levels.

There's nothing particularly unsafe about this experiment especially given the extremely tiny amounts of antimatter I question.

It's amazing though how many people on here speak so authoritatively on subjects they obviously know fuckall about

I know "fuckall" about antimatter. Please explain what positrons have to do with this situation.

Anti matter sounds scary but I dont believe its dangerous in this situation at all. Give some terrorists cell a modern day nuke and they still wouldnt be able to detonate it properly lol.

well we don't know what anti-matter they are using.

but the "Positron" is anti-matter.
and it is the mirror image "partner" to the Electron.

and since they carry a charge, they would fit
nicely into a magnetic bottle.

THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF POSITRON

a subatomic particle with the same mass as an electron and a numerically equal but positive charge.

CLEARLY NOT ANTI MATTER

But if they use it won't it become matter?
 Quoting: rockstar101

No. Antimatter and matter annihilate producing gamma radiation.

Re: Transporting antimatter in a van
I read the total amount of collected anti-matter since they started trying to collect it is in the 12 -19 nanograms. Nowhere near a dangerous amount even if it were to come in contact with matter. I think the longest they have been able to capture and store is around 1000 seconds before it collided with matter and canceled itself out.

We're nowhere near able to produce AM at our technological level.

And gamma radiation isn't matter?
 Quoting: rockstar101

No. It's photons.

However, gamma photons do have the capability to create matter through pair production. It's essentially reverse annihilation.
 Quoting: Dr. Moran

Sounds like a neat trick to convert energy into matter.

Positrons are NOT anti-protons!

Positrons have the mass of an electron with a positive charge.

Anti-Protons have the mass of a proton with a negative charge. They can make anti-matter with reversed charges relative to normal matter that will annihilate in the presence of normal matter.
