Buckethead is definitely not anyone but Brian Carrol and the last year or two he has done a couple interviews on the record as Brian Carrol.

This lesson video he talks about Gilbert.

Re: Buckethead
I know what you're saying, he talks about Gilbert in the lesson vid and the interview. If I remember right it was Gilbert who really inspired him to practice and play. And he took lessons from him in the late 80's time frame, etc.

I've been a fan since about 99 or so, and I also play guitar, sing, and have had a broad range of influences from Waylon to Death to Buckethead to all your radio crap etc. But there's no other guitarist like this guy, Bucketheads arrangement's will go down in history and will be listened to and discussed for decades to come.
You simply at this point can't take in Buckethead in one sitting, it takes weeks to now go through his entire catalog of stuff prior to the Pike series and then the entire 260+ 30 min albums in the pike series which has some really great stuff that could hold its own thread.

I have a lot of favorite guitarist of the years, but this guy is King.
Buckethead is simply the best overall guitarist that has been on earth yet.

Re: Buckethead
Just imagine what Buckethead and Ozzy would have been about, holy ____.
But he was too eccentric for Ozzy, with the Bucket and all, and Big B said " he called me by my first name, Only my mom calls me by my first name"

Let's not forget that all geniuses have some odd eccentric ways, there's little doubt in my mind that this guy see's music and the fret board in a way most aren't able to.

Re: Buckethead
Bucket head is approximating Shawn lane style jazzyness to some degree with his right hand tapping. Sick as he is I believe he does exhibitionist type picking stuff (killswitch etc) because his straight technique is NOT quite as precise as Gilbert, just my opinion, or this guy

^ do you understand this man is 50 years old, on a scalloped fretboard strat without a locking tremolo set up? Oh yeah .007 gauge strings...

No disputing yngwies capacity to be despised, but his guitar playing isn’t covered typically for a reason...ELITE

They were friends, Yngwie is a great player, but this thread isn't about him.

I've liked them all but Bucket's the only one that keep's me interested in the next album/disc.

Fair enough.

Bucketheads skills from collective styles are far beyond the sum of the Swede.

Love hiw clearly buckethead enjoys playing and is influenced by the spectrum of music: funk, jazz, rock, classical, country, bluegrass, rockabilly.

Master of them all not just metal, definitely helps keep that next album interest deep. Yngwie doesn’t interest beyond a staggering capacity to play a style really fast and well.
