The bill -- which includes a sweeping income tax cut -- cleared the state House on an overwhelming 135-24 vote, after being approved in the state Senate on a 44-10 vote. It now heads to the governor's desk. The final version dropped an earlier amendment that would have renewed a jet fuel tax exemption worth $50 million that was taken off the books in 2015. The rejection of the tax break for now, though, marked a swift rebuke from state lawmakers, who had been weighing the restoration of the benefit until this week. It was originally pitched as an “airline tax break,” rather than one that would only benefit Delta. But in the wake of the Atlanta-based airline’s decision to end its relationship with the NRA, Cagle, who is running to succeed Deal in November, warned that he would block any legislation that could prove to be beneficial to them. “I will kill any tax legislation that benefits @Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with the @NRA,” Cagle, who heads the Georgia State Senate, tweeted on Monday. “Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back.” Now someone needs figure out how to shaft Wal-mart, Dick's and Krogers! |

You won’t give a discount to nra members we cut off a tax break. Gay couple wants to buy a cake... go ahead deny them service because it goes against our moral standing. Georgia... your hypocrisy is showing. agnostic deity |

Also, that tax break they were getting was pennies for them so I don't think they care very much. Not hardly, look at any of the legacy carriers score card since inception and airlines are losing entities overall. They are making money hand over fist right now but 13 years ago it was BK for them... |

Quoting: agnostic deity Georgia... your hypocrisy is showing. Not nearly as bad as the liberal extortion of boycotting an entire state because they don't want to let men into the girls' restrooms. That effects many businesses, not just one. And it's about time to let them know it can work both ways. |

It's needed and long overdue. By contrast, President Trump talks and Tweets about "fake," "crooked," "little," "lying," "son of a bitch," etc, but he never uses the adjectives of "liberal" and "conservative." Right now he should be fussing over not a lack of enough gun control, but on the fact the Department of Education - among others - is promoting a policy where public schools are encouraged to not expel students based on the notion that it's mean and un-nice if those students are non-white and therefore meet the criteria set forth in the Liberal Handbook of Political Correctness. . |

The board’s politics just cost the real owners of the airline $50M. Good luck with re-election. This is the best news I’ve heard in weeks. |

Surely, there must have been a vote before Delta announced...(not that many play the stock market anyway)... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70161829 United States 03/01/2018 09:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Atlanta is the main hub for Delta. Their corporate office is located there as well as a reservation center. Yea, they could move their corp offices and reservation center, but it would cost them more than 40 mil. They have to keep Atlanta as a hub because of all the aircraft maintenance services they have there. Delta has received lots of bad press lately. It's a shame. Years ago it was rated one of the best airlines to fly or work for. Now, not so much. It is one of only three of the legacy airlines left in the US (pre-deregulation). The other two are United and American. Maybe companies will learn to stay out of politics. I wonder how many stockholders are NRA members? It would not take a lot to proxy a bunch and have a hell of a time at the next stockholders meeting. |
