No because it wouldn't cost that. We need true tax reform that removes embedded taxes in the prices of everything produced in this country. That is why we aren't competitive. Added tariffs on imports are not the solution. America's small businesses are constantly forced to sell out to international corporations which then take American profits overseas to replicate these operations in other countries, selling lower-quality versions of those products back to us. We have the geography and the allies to grow what we need and the manpower to do get it done. Many other countries, most of which are not our friends, know this and they are terrified we will do it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56432837 It's time for America to throw off the hands that bind us and thrive as we used to. It is highly surprising, a country like United States of America with population of 330,000,000 people is taking workers from other countries who have 2 to 4 times more population unless American exports and factories grow. |

It's mostly farmland being tended by illegals. The local, young, legal working Americans just out of high school (not leaving for college) have no real job opportunities other than low paying retail and food service postions. There is a Campbell's Soup Factory, however to get in you hafta know someone being it's mostly family members that get first dibs on openings. There's also a camper/trailer factory nearby, but it is quit a hike for most and the jobs are highly sought after so a great resume is a must. A lot of out-of-staters come in for jobs at that assembly plant. Quoting: SiniXster the Dread Basically, this is an area of OH that unless you're family owns a farm and/or is well known, it's very tough to find a job with security and a decent wage with growth potential that gives locals hope for a decent family oriented future. Congrats to the locals, and Bravo to Trump! Wrong part of Ohio, there's farm land 20 miles to the south. Only a few years ago Ford, American Shipbuilding and Kobe Steel were all in Lorain.Lorain at one time, housed the second largest population of Puerto Ricans, next to New York. |

Dems are so screwed. All characters and events in this forum --even those based on real people-- are entirely fictional. All celebrity comments are impersonated...poorly. The above post contains coarse language and due to the content it should not be viewed by anyone. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 32068541 United States 03/09/2018 03:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So are things going to get more expensive or cheaper? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5984818 In theory USA made products are suppose to be cheaper but I see them leaving the prices the same or even higher In capitalism, the only way things are made cheaper is by either automation or by cheap labor... You will be spending more money for an item, but now you will have a choice to either by a Commie product or a superior quality American made item... We used to make excellent products in the USA with superior craftsmanship... I would rather spend a little extra money and buy a product that would last much longer than a cheap flimsy Chinese product that would break after a few uses.... So you're ok with: $1,500 American "Made" Washing machine ? $99.00 American "Made" Toaster ? . I'll explain it to you since you seem to be a leftist that has a hard time understanding simple things. Wages in the US are being artificially kept low by the corrupt government outsourcing our manufacturing to China and then flooding our country with illegal aliens. Part of the outsourcing happened because of one sided trade agreements with China that got rid of tariffs on their goods but they kept tariffs on our goods. Now that Trump has imposed Tariffs on the Chinese steel our steel can now be sold here which means that the steel mills will be hiring and paying well to produce that steel. And in those areas where the steel mills will be hiring the other jobs will have to compete for employees so they will be forced to pay more in order to attract employees. So while the people in that area will be paying slightly higher for that toaster they will also be getting paid more per hour. So yes its better to be getting paid more per hour and having the option to buy an American made toaster for 20 dollars more that will last 30+ years. |

Trump is remaking the GOP into a blue collar party and in doing so is drawing blue collar / union laborers away from the Democrat Party by the thousands. Even leftist shills like Richard Trumka have realized that labor unions are worthless without an economic plan that puts people to work. The Dems are being marginalized to big city metrolibs, illegal aliens and whiny academic snowflakes. |
