Personally I would like to see government that is grounded in wisdom, compassion and service to others and for the life of me, I do not see how that happens in our current forms of government. I would like to see government be something that lifts up humanity as a whole as opposed to what it does now and somehow it must be scale-able and optional. I have stated a few times on this forum but was always rebuffed that we need to take control of government ourselves by creating an alternative from the personal and local levels on up. We can not create it top down, nor can we use violence to achieve the objective as this will simply get us more of the same. Maybe someday folks will get fed up with the bread and circuses and decide to take control of their children's future. Our Republic did not fail, it was overtaken by criminals period, it has to be added to not overthrown. If it gets clean up, you put a heavy penalty on anyone who even looks sideways on doing what was done in the dark of night. I think the death penalty is what would work. Our constitution is with the states, not the federal government. You need to read the founding fathers and understand how it was set up. It is the confederation documents that are the true ruling documents signed by every state. The federal government has taken what does not belong to it. Say this, the World Congress was set up in DC with a new name CFR institute, the state told them to abolish that thing and they put it in under a different name, it caught the name by watching videos from their sight from a woman who was running and running way behind others who called them the World Congress. So, now you know the culprit and this is where they got their marching orders! All the member of the CFR was involved with this. Most are freemasons. I suspect there will be more and bigger rallies/protests until the restrictions are eased, but I'm not so optimistic to think that we will see a successful recall. The answer to your question is TERM LIMITS for ALL elected officials. They added term limits to the office of POTUS after FDR became too powerful in that office being there for so long. Why do we assume that the same doesn't hold true for senators or representatives? How about your state governor or town mayor? The same human nature applies, as it is humans occupying those offices. Power corrupts. I mean seriously, do you think that Pelosi or McConnell or any of the other long tenured congress critters don't wield an amazing amount of power compared to their newer counterparts? The incumbency rate for our elected officials is like 80-90%. So with every year you have a handful that are replaced (more often than not it's because the person who had been in that seat retired after being there for 20+ years) but the same people just keep getting elected. They functionally can not be voted out of office for a whole host of reasons. You say "the system allowed it to be hijacked". The system is words on paper. Those words represent ideas and ideals. They can not defend themselves, nor prevent evil people from using them out of context or flat out ignoring them. Again, an engine can't fix itself, if a mechanic does a poor job the engine will break. Back to term limits: I realize they won't happen in my lifetime without a major upheaval in our gov't or uprising of the people (the latter of which is the ultimate "check" of our governmental system that the Founders made sure was there). Congress has no reason to write a law forcing term limits on themselves, just like they won't ever write a bill to cut their own pay. The only real recourse for it to happen is a constitutional convention of the states. If the states could get together and agree on an Amendment to the Constitution enforcing term limits there is nothing congress could do to stop it. They could challenge it in the SC, but they would lose because the term limits on POTUS is already deemed constitutional. I hope you take no offense, I think the blame gets misplaced sometimes. Our system is a good system functionally that worked for a long time. It is a system worth fighting for. How do terms limits actually affect the quality or content of character of those who would wish to be leaders? If as many of us believe politicians are just puppets, how can you prevent those who control the world from adapting and installing 'our' leaders more frequently? No offense, you still have not fixed the system with term limits. That system like an engine that can not fix itself is a good analogy and I would submit you certainly will not end up with a system of good people putting others first when those who currently control it from top to bottom are evil. Did you ever see the video of Ventura talking about the talking to he got from the seeeyeaye? I am not sure how you get this constitutional convention of the states when so many of the governors have so much to loose. And good luck getting enough good people to take up those offices to get that constitutional congress convened. Like I asked Hankie, what is plan B if Q is not on our side or simply fails? Term limits are a bandaid fix. As our government was originally designed, term limits are unessesary. The job of representing the republic shouldn't involve lifetime perks... No retirement, no benefits period... They should follow the same laws as the common folk. No insider trading, you should not get rich being in that job. As designed, you make your livelyhood in the private sector, you as a rep, represent your constituents for a few months in DC, pass some bills etc, then take your happy ass back to private sector until the next session, if you get reelected. Senators should be appointed by state legislature and can be recalled by said legislature immediately if your not representing your state as they thought you would. The job of representing your state was never meant to enrich you, it was meant to be a duty to your people period. Get rid of the perks, go back to original design. Hell they built the Capitol in the swamp because they (founders) wanted you to be miserable, get your job done, and get back to your daily life. As far as I'm concerned, we need to go back to senators being appointed by the state, reps remain as a popular vote. President pay = mean wage of country Senator pay = mean wage of your state Rep pay = mean wage of your district You want a pay raise, lift all boats! Pay for their travel expenses, but not first class, they can fly coach like the rest of us... They are not special! They can't afford a place to live, then they can stay in barracks, if it works for our troops it works for them. No retirement, PERIOD! Medical benefits are their responsibility. You are there to represent, NOT make a career of it! This is just the tip of the iceberg to get rid or at least minimize corruption. There's nothing wrong with our constitution or bill of rights, if they just stick to what's in there. Amendments beyond the 10th need to be looked at. You need to have skin in the game to vote, just because you have a pulse and can fill in a bubble does not inheritly qualify you to vote. Get the government out of all facets of life! Marriage is a religious practice... Leave it the fuck alone! Civil contracts should not be conflated with religious doctrine at all! Get out of education. Leave that to parents and their local community, if that causes a community to create a bunch of retards that can't think so be it! We always need low skilled workers. As long as the stay home order is in effect nothing can be done. I suspect there will be more and bigger rallies/protests until the restrictions are eased, but I'm not so optimistic to think that we will see a successful recall. After all, we are a blue state due to the long time influence of having thousands of UAW and other union members here. It will take time for that influence to decline now that we are a right to work state. Sorry, had to laugh at that one... It started for me when I was doing radiation last year, on the third week of the treatment it began. It seems to get particularly bad when Im tired. Its a horrible feeling and I cant seem to find any answers for it :( I got mine 40 years ago when working with a performing arts center outside of New York. We did a Bruce Springsteen concert and I couldn’t find earplugs anywhere in town. I hear ringing in octaves, especially after playing piccolo. If I’m up all night working, I hear music as if from a radio. The ringing is always there, always loud but I’ve learned to live with it after so many years. At night I use a fan for white noise. I have tinnitus from life-long hearing loss...discovered when I was 8 or 9. A fan only ADDS to the noises in my head. Hubs is almost profoundly deaf (after a lifetime of fire truck sirens and then jet engines from his professions). He REFUSES to get hearing aids, says they don’t work right. So he plays radios and TV at blasting levels, and I want things low...makes for constant tension. Spending too much time with that noise level only makes the tinnitus worse for long times.
