As for the grandpa, it he can't at times remember the name of the person, good chance he has dementia, Alzheimer, and he wouldn't remember much at times, or he would lose track of what going on one day to the next. Alzheimer people lose their memories of love ones, sometimes even wives, brothers and sister plus their children, on rare occasions they will snap out of it and have a lucid short time. Those good Old Boys may have a big problem, the older man with Alzheimer best guess will not be put in jail it that the problem. That not to say they would be free, they would just not be in jail, he be punished enough not being himself anymore.

I would not wish a young person to ever find out things bad they didn't know was going on, they are innocent of all wrong doing. Sometime lives lessons are extremely hard, It is how
the person deals with them and rise above the things they didn't have anything to do with, loving someone doesn't really change except the pain part, love is till there.

Everyone has flawed some worse than others, that does not mean there is not another side to them. I will say there is some who don't have those kinds of feelings about others and that kind of person, is not like other people, they don't see others pain, they get caught and say I hurt instead of their victim.

You can not help want that person to overcome the problem, and not let it destroy themselves, just learn the lesson of what not to do, in their own life.
