I think it's a beautiful word in a nice story about someone's life, like "going back to my homeland". It's not a beautiful word when it's attached to a government department that reminds everyone about 9/11. Does that make sense?

So. You have a problem with dept. of "Homeland Security"? Would you rather people just forget 911? You know, "when some people did something". Des

Bush used the word homeland for the first time on 9/11. I grew up in NY, fifty that's right fifty of my friend's parents and my neighbors had their cars parked at the train for a week while we desperately hoped they were alive and would come home. We held a candlelight vigil at the village green, right next to the train station and we all looked at those cars. I will never forget 9/11, not only did we lose all those people we also lost friends and neighbors from fdny and nypd.

Man, are you ever happy? You are so nasty. You automatically question everyone and assume the worst. Hope you aren't like this in real life cause then you are the female version of get off my lawn guy and must have a lonely existence. And I know you wield a lot of power here and will have your usual tantrum but you always impure the worst motives on everyone.

my family knew 2 people who were killed in the towers
we went to the 9/11 memorial in 2016, right after Trump was elected
it was still very raw emotion after 15 years
haven't been back since
regarding the use of word homeland, doesn't really bother me, but can understand if you are sensitive about it
I am so sorry for your loss

I, long ago told myself that "words" are just "words"...actions are what matter. Words can be taken out of context or lost in translation. Actions are much easier to interpret.

The "Politically Correct" crowd has tried to turn "words" into weapons...don't give "words" any undeserved power...people's actions are much more easy to interpret! A word has no physical properties and can't harm you...unless you let it.
