Interesting. Lords are appointed aren't they? I really don't know much about it.

To become one, you are nominated by the Prime Minister and the Queen has to approve the nomination. You don't have to be related to Royalty. You can even buy the title Lord, though you can't sit in the House Of Lords with it. Those that can are hereditary Lords, non-hereditary life Lords and Bishops. Usually, those who did favours for whatever Government end up getting a lot of the nominations, with the remainder being made up by people who did things to deserve the title. Bishop were mention as being able to be one, and some other leaders of the Church, this is not my idea, I was reading it for a document they put out. The others ere just privileges in because of type honors they are picked, besides the group that was said they have the correct linage. I take them at their words, there is long lines of people who kin to those royals. point being they pick them, they set the rule so I thought what I read was correct.
