All elections are for a specific candidate, not a "To Be Determined" candidate at Party discretion. I think this would be the case of winning by default, just as any other people race if their opponent died which has happened or the quit, then he would win. If Biden doesn't make it or quiets Harris could not keep running because she only real as long as the team is Biden's.
