Is the midwest region where this is now occurring one of the farming breadbelts for the US.
Our region is the warmest in Canada, despite this years crappy weather, and is a major farming area.
Its my belief with their weaponized weather stuff, that they are targeting farming/agricultural strong holds, so even will spend money on what would appear to be out of the way places, in order to corrupt the food chain.
