And it makes since that it would be held on the summer solstice because the earth is farther away from the sun on the Summer Solstice.

The full event gathering begins this Saturday the 25th, but technically Midnight Sunday and the Exodus out of the desert is on September 3rd Monday...As Montana Man looks on..

11 days later is the Burn Ritual and then 11 days including the day is 9/11/18...the 17th anniversary of the WTC attack.

Friday 13th and I just noticed the date you posted..lol.

Well, the burners emerge and begin to swarm today at Black Rock.
But they say it begins Sunday night at midnight,
12:01 begins MON-day in the Gregorian Calendar.
However, in the Hebrew Calendar MON-day began already at Sunset Sunday,
about 4 hours before our Gregorian

Complete White-Out Conditions close entry to Black Rock City for about 3 hours today. Dust and wind make it impossible for motorist to see the road. It did reopen but a 10 hour wait was experienced by many.

Cicadas are a symbol of resurrection in many cultures.

Cicadas don't damage crops. They suck the sap from trees, if you hold one and they mistake you for a tree, drinking your blood can kill the cicada.

Thank you. I didnt realise many cultures see Cicadas as symbolic for resurrection but it does make sense knowing they bury themselves for 13 and 17 years. I added the info and noted it in the pg 1 article.

Last year Burning Man at Black Rock City began a week after the Total Eclipse, and the Hajj, pilgrimage to the Black Cube/Black Stones in Mecca began 9 days after the Total Eclipse. However, both ended and the Exodus for both were on the same day September 4th 2017.

During the Burn ritual at Black Rock City when the effigy was burning, a man ran into the fire and sacrificed himself.

These two events are on two different spectrums.

The Hajj comes even on different Gregorian months. Islam go off a Lunar Calendar...and after the Total Eclipse these two events ended on the exact same day. How can America allow such a horror in our country as Burning Man????

I cant imagine what Muslims think about Black Rock City. They have the Dome of the Rock and Burning Man has the SEX DOME where the largest orgies on earth happen!!!

They shouldn't be using the SAME NAME-even if it is,
in fact, an analogy of the Islamic Dome of the Rock name
for BOTH respect and for KARMA.

I think, WinterStone, you have hit a real nerve here.

For the young people coming up who don't have a spiritual
anchor...and who believe that "NOTHING IS SACRED" unless
YOU believe it is (There are truths, after all, aren't there?)...Then something like Burning Man is the EXTREME
opposite of a sacred pilgrimage (which the Muslims believe
to be their journey to Mecca.) I'm NOT particularly fond
of Islam...and NOT making a case for against Burning Man
because I frankly don't know much about it...but mocking
ANY religion in my book is a "no-no!"

I don't know the history of the Burning Man celebrations.
Were they originally started to "pitch JOKES" at the
Islamic faith and the location at "Black Rock" is NOT
AN ACCIDENT? Or are the 2 just coincidental for the dates
you mention in your post above (about the "EXODUS.")

There are just so many things that are TRULY BIZZAR these
days...I wouldn't be surprised if the Burning Man gathering
is an effort to MOCK ISLAM. In which case, there is going
to be spiritual karma for those who support it because
these things are in the rhealm of the divine and NOT for
us to be fooling around with.

Speaking of Cicadas, this year the Cicadas returned to DC.. They were last seen in 2001. Before the 9/11/01 WTC event.

Black Rock City where Burning Man is held is in Nevada. Recall it's in the state that joined the union on Halloween.

It's where Hoover Dam is and Vegas where all those people were killed at the concert. Tomorrow is the Exodus out of Black Rock City on Labor Day.

Nevada is the state in Orange.

If you are "Burning Man" ignorant (as I am) this article
should give you just a little background and some of the
current ins-and-outs of the inner workings of the Burning
man "corporation" (yes, this is now a corporation and NOT
like the loosely organized little 'desert festival' it once
was back in the mid 1980's.

I was surprised to learn, for example in this article that
top managers in the Burning Man corp. earn as much as
$150,000 for their efforts while having labor "problems"
with the "little guy worker" at the bottom who is paid
at top rate $15/hr. for hard physical labor to set up and
run the festival.

Most people believe that Burning Man is a "tradition"
coming down from the "enlightenment pilgrimage" many of
the 1960's "hippies" sought out (some going to India and
other exotic places to find nirvana.) TODAY'S Burning Man
may be a "shell" of that original intention...but it is
still billed as a "counter-culture" event.

But, as I stated earlier...I don't know much about it
other than articles like the one I link above...and I have
never participated myself at a Burning Man celebration.
