That name made me think of the galvinized fencing around my yard, looked it up and sure enough that's one of his discovieries. Cool, learn something new every day and I've already learned half a dozen things before noon today.
well, that's a bit of a misnomer i think.
i don't recall ever reading anywhere where
Galvani did any Electro-Plating research.
(Sir Humphrey Davey was prominent in that
area though)

Galvani didn't even invent the battery. Volta
was inspired by some of Galvani's results,
and it was Volta who actually invented the Battery.
so, the "volt" is not a misnomer.
(the "Galvanometer" is the same misnomer.
Galvani must have had a good PR agent.)
