Morning colors should be when the station signs on. Evening colors for when the station signs off.

I remember. What year did broadcasters quit doing this?

I don't know for sure, but here is one from 1985. I remember this from the late 1960's but also in my teen years.

Yes those were the days. The Anthem was last thing heard before bedtime and recited in school first thing in the morning.

I remember as a kid turning off the TV every time that came on because 'Poltergeist' freaked me out.

I hated the static too after that.

Oh and look they even included woman with it!!!...Yes very nice. :)

Reagan pushed for changes to allow 24-7 broadcasting.

Had the BIG furniture-box TV with the 'extra-deluxe' 2nd giant clear plastic dial...top dial went through channel 33 but had a 'UHF' selection, where then you could fine tune the 2nd dial...

.....and in the end STILL only pick up maybe 5 stations on a good day.

I remember way before that one when it was in black and white!

I loved the static. Slept like a baby.

I still have a portable analog tv I use for my static fix. Sometimes things briefly appear.

I remember. And just before they signed off, they ran a Circuit Rider clip.

Those were the days when WE were the remote control!

I remember it.Staying up late to watch Saturday Night Live and falling asleep and waking up to this.

When the tv turned off there was that dot in the center of the screen....

Actually, on weekends we were usually pretty stoned by the time the Circuit Rider clip ran at sign off and it seemed hilarious. heh

I loved the dot. I was so into the dot.

There was a sermonette on one of the channels.

In the mid-late 60's I knew very few people who had a color TV. That was for rich people...LOL!

The kids today would not understand it, but the world was so much better back then.

Oh yeah the Static aka bug fights.

Remember sign-off with the National Anthem very well. Some stations also played an inspirational piece called "High Flight." Please Google it if interested.

Also remember the Indian head test pattern at sign-on and sign-off...as well as "Trouble Along the Cable" image slide put up on screen when there was interruption in the coaxial signal from the network.

I particularly remember a "trouble" slide that had a beaver, groundhog or some sort of rodent chewing through the cable indicating an interruption. Anyone else remember that?

I remember it in the 80's. Hell, probably even into the early 90's. Back before everything was a constant 24-7 feed.

Had a big console color tv that only had green and red. Topped with rabbit ear antennas. Only 3 or 4 channels. Real high tech
