Molly Ringwald troubled by Breakfast Club ‘Much of John Hughes’ writing was INAPPROPRIATE’

Following coverage of the #MeToo movement’s response to Harvey Weinstein and other Hollywood sexual harassment scandals, the 50-year-old actress has spoken out on her 1985 hit.

Writing in The New Yorker, the former teen star has reevaluated The Breakfast Club, which was written and directed by John Hughes.

The filmmaker, who died in 2009, helmed a number of 1980s comedy hits from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Weird Science to Sixteen Candles.

However Ringwald, who acted in a number of his movies, feels much of his work was “inappropriate.”

i love how every hughes movies took place in chicago....breakfast club, ferris bueller, planes trains and automobiles, uncle buck, home alone, etc......

Ringwald (50) is just bitter about getting old and becoming invisible.

Love his films but judging by how most of hollywood kissed his ass... the man might've been a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Not really.... my problem with Hughes was he made a generation of us kids think if we weren’t drinking, smoking, having sex like a 30 year old that you were not living, pretty harmful to my generation by my experience.

It was a great flick if you had a teenage brain in the 1980s. I doubt you'd enjoy it much today. Kelly LeBrock was "love at first sight" for most guys, so a good plot & strong dialogue wasn't exactly a "must have."
