The guy had just carjacked a vehicle and crashed it,he then ran into an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and police followed him in.


While I dont see anyone in immediate danger when officers fired, there could have been someone laying on the floor or huddled under the counter where we cant see them.(potential hostage situation)

I just don’t understand this. There was a time police would try to talk through a situation, even when the culprit was armed. Now, they just shoot & figure out later if they were ever even in any danger. A dozen cops couldn’t manage 1 man who appeared to have nothing in his hand.

I went looking for information about the quote "Portland residents dissatisfied with mayor's handling of homeless situation" and saw that Portland and Multnomah county spend

25 MILLION DOLLARS

a year on the homeless problem.

Give me 25 million dollars with no restrictions and I'll house every person that needs it.

These social services bureaucrats have zero imagination and zero desire to really help people. They think the only living situations that should be allowable are a free standing residence with a white picket fence, or a high rise condo with a million dollar view.

The thought of a little shanty on a little plot of ground that you could call your own, is a horror to them. That would make people independent and you can't have that.

A person could make the coolest tent cities in the world out of pallets and discarded plywood from construction sites (concrete forms) and some rebar to pound in the ground to make fences out of pallets, there could be port-a-potty service and everyone could have their little fenced garden and a proper double wall wall tent on a raised floor made of pallets covered with plywood. There could be roads and paths covered with wood chips. The biggest expense would be hiring security guards and fencing the perimeter to keep the residents safe. The biggest headaches to manage would be noise complaints from boomboxes and barking dogs, and other problems caused by loose pets.

It could end up being a better living situation than a lot of houses and apartments, and there would be no way to tax it, that's why it wouldn't be allowed. It would start looking good to a lot of people. There could be a central community building with laundry and stuff.

The whole damn thing could appear overnight if people had some good trucks and good connections and some motivation.

The biggest barrier to this is the horrid class-war attitude that it's somehow undignified to offer someone a living situation that isn't a full blown house or apartment. Like you're insulting people by offering them "less" than that, and implying that they are second class citizens.

I only wrote all this because it PISSES ME OFF that agencies spend
