It's unknown if this is linked to the build-up of tension between world military powers. A Helicopter used by the Russian Military has crashed in Russia, killing all passengers. 'The Mi-8 is used as an airborne command post, armed gunship, and reconnaissance platform.' [ link to sputniknews.com (secure)] It was not military but civilian air company "East" Piece of junk was 30years old and it was a training flight. [ link to www.vesti.ru (secure)] They aren't junk by any stretch of the imagination. They are a preferred helicopter around the globe for their ruggedness and ability to fly in the most hostile conditions with minimal service schedules and repair. These things fly in the dust of the middle east to the coldness of Siberia to the Asian Himalayas. Every once in a while helicopters crash.
