Re: They Really Have a Lot of Balls Calling It "Healthcare"....
I remember when affordable health care meant the doctor
made house calls, was inexpensive, and truly cared for
their patients.

then insurance companies got into the game, and lawyers started telling everyone to sue, sue, sue, . .
bouncing the ball back and forth between insurance and
settlements with the prices continuously increasing until
no one can afford health services without them.
and even now they have become too expensive.
you've got to work yourself into stress caused diseases to pay their country club fees, yachts, cars and big houses.

it is gun to the head of the every day citizen. . .
extortionism legalzed and mandatory by law.

fuck them, fuck the system.

I've gone the ancestral way, . .

Tokyo is an expensive city but healthcare on average is 10% of America's cost and better care. WHO rates US as 33rd in world for quality.
Government is a body largely ungoverned.

My healthcare is great. I get free drugs. I mean that right there is just the fucking best. You're gonna give me free pharma to cope with this evil world? I'm sold. Of course I'm the Head Director of the CIC so there should be plenty of perks for dealing with the CIA and DOD all day. Oh you think you can just chop me up and take my place? No, I live in an alternate timeline where the Russians pioneered cold fusion first and the CIC never got disbanded. In my timeline I run everything. In your I don't exist.

My timeline is the actual fucking future because the Russians are copying the Alcator and improving it.

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

The Russians are like two months away from having SQUID Alcators if they want em. Meaning they're like two months away from announcing to the world that Cold Fusion has finally been cracked wide open. Meanwhile America just has the one fucking Alcator and all the data.

You see in my timeline this victory cripples all American enterprise and we end up losing all our industry to Russia. In my timeline the president Donald Duck and Goofy is chief of staff.

Hey fags of Fairfax County, I don't actually exist in alternate timeline, you're all just really fucking stupid so I like taking a unique approach to making fun of you. NOW YOU FUCKED UP! YOU HAVE FUCKED UP NOW!

"Healthcare" = Give a med to hide a symptom (not fix it) then another med for the side effects from the first, then a med for the side effects from the 2nd, and so on and so on until the patient is a walking pharmaceutical company cause they are now truly screwed, and have become a customer for the rest of their (shortened miserable) life.

....when basically it is just another Insurance Scam. In the olden days, doctors who treated patients successfully, made a living, and then even made very good livings applying their trade to treat and cure illness. And they deserved to turn a profit, certainly if they knew what they were doing.

How the hell did things get so bad demented that the "System" morphed into a "For Profit" Gold Mine that was so ridiculously profitable that it is now able to support a massive army of Lawyers, Insurance Executives, Administrators and Political hacks that all feed off of the proceeds like kings? Is it even morally right to fleece the sick, the infirmed and the dying out of so much cash? The Stupid, well you know what W.C. Fields said about them - he was right, they deserve to get hosed.

I heard a radio commercial on a NYC AM station a couple of years ago that touted a certain hospital. The line of shit they were spewing went something like...

You would pay any price for one more week of life, for one more hour, for one more minute. When your life is on the line come to our hospital because we love desperate sick people".

Paraphrasing somewhat, nonetheless the message was clear. If this is true and too many Americans feel this way and are willing to fork over every red cent they have for the honor of carrying a plastic card in the wallets, then you may as well cue the Fat Lady because the opera is almost over.

Good post OP.

What you're saying correlates with the British NHS, that much vaunted socialised healthcare outfit.

Over the past year, the NHS Litigation Authority has had its budget bumped to £56BILLION to fight lawsuits against incompetent and negligent healthcare practitioners.

£56BILLION! In a nation of c.66Million.

This £56BILLION is currently around 46% of the NHS annual budget.

Meanwhile, hospitals are still closing, patients are still dying on gurneys, uncared for, in hospital hallways, patients still have to wait up to 5 or 6 weeks to see a GP (and even then they may not see a doctor that speaks English adequately, thanks mainly to the EU and its scandalous 'diversity'/'cultural enrichment' Free Movement of Labor uncontrolled immigration agenda).

Lawyers, banksters and global corps ,aided and abetted by their minions, the NHS executives that churn between the NHS and various lucrative arms of the global corps) are literally sucking the life out of us and all our formerly humanitarian institutions.

Yup, I got a $6500 bill for an ER visit that was a scalp cut that needed 7 staples to close.

Urgent care clinics were closed, but they probably would have made me go to the ER anyway

my bill was $7 thousand in a small western town clinic for a broken upper arm. It took about an hour and a half for x rays, the doctor on duty to affirm that it was broken, (I heard and felt it snap) and to call in a bone doctor who put it in a cast from shoulder to wrist.

The R.N. told me I was lucky because the bone doctor loves to operate and use pins etc.

Re: They Really Have a Lot of Balls Calling It "Healthcare"....
Yeah, doctors are freaking idiots. I saw every doctor I could to try to figure out why I was having seizures. Wasted tons of money. Saw all the "best specialits" and went to all the best neurological institutes.

They accused me of being crazy and mentally ill, even though the psychiatrist said it was a clear case of temporal lobe epilepsy.

The neurologists said I couldn't be having seizures because they didn't show up on the EEG, even though in the literature, it plainly says that 15-30% of people with epilepsy have seizures that don't show up on the EEG. The psychiatrist said I don't care what the neurologist says - you've got a classic case of temporal lobe epilepsy.

But none of the neurologists would treat my seizures, because they said I was mentally ill. Meanwhile, the psychiatrist refused to treat me for mental illness, because he said I wasn't mentally ill, and it was epilepsy.

Finally, after years of research and using natural therapies and remedies to help myself, I decided to go to an allergist to see if it the epilepsy was caused my food allergies, because I read about it in an epilepsy book. Turns out, I am allergic to corn, wheat and yeast.

So, I eliminated all 3 from my diet, and my seizures have gone down dramatically. Now the only thing that triggers my seizures are computers and fluorescent lights.

I've only had ONE seizure in the last 2 months (I'm not on seizure meds) and that was due to fluorescent lighting. And it was only a small one, so I didn't have post-ictal psychosis, and I didn't need a rescue medication.

Eliminating foods I was allergic to is a simple, non-drug method of reducing seizures, but not ONE neurologist suggested I get tested for allergies. I had to figure it out on my own. Why? Because the drug companies don't make money off of it, because you can't treat food allergies with medicine.

The say that epilepsy is called an idiopathic disease, which means they don't know what causes it. More likely, it's because they are idiots, and they don't TRY to figure out what's causing it.

So, yes, most doctors are idiots. They no longer search for causes of disease. They don't use their skills of reasoning or deduction. They just order useless tests, and they call their patients mentally ill and accuse them of being on drugs when they're actually having seizures due to food allergies, which was causing inflammation in my brain.

I can no longer work on computers or in fluorescent lights, which means I can no longer do my job I was trained for in college, and I have to go back to working in restaurants, like I did when I was back in college -- but at least I'm not constantly having seizures and post-ictal psychosis anymore. All due to changing my diet.

It's what happens when you have unfettered capitalism.

Think about it. People run companies who's main purpose is to make as much profit as possible. These companies compete with other companies i.e it's highly competitive.

So if you are interested in making as much money as possible you look for ways to optimize this, weather it be through marketing, reducing the amount of material in an item, lowering its shelf-life, etc etc, the list is endless.

One of the more insidious means of maximizing profit, and the opportunity for profit, is to comoditise healthcare. Why? Because a) EVERYONE needs healthcare of some kind, so you have a large and continuous cash-flow and b) Comoditising as MUCH as you possibly can in society maximises the potential to gain profit.

Mix this in with the mental state of most human beings - that is the tendency toward selfishness and ignorance and a lack of empathy toward others and you the corrupt system we call capitalism.

An excellent thread that mirrors my thoughts to a T. As I have become a senior citizen, I've realized that a lot of decisions need to be made, the most important of which is exactly how far I'm willing to go to stay alive. All of my life it's been drummed into my cranial cavity that the goal is to make it to heaven wherein all will be revealed and happiness will be the dole for eternity which brings up the thought: What is the point of staying alive for as long as possible when the goal is to die to make it to the next step?

Obviously the point of the health care system is to keep you in it for as long as possible to derive the maximum profit from your death. Unacceptable and not going to do it.

My daughter has a severe chronic illness diagnosed when she was 12. I either had to declare bankruptcy to pay her medical bills which for the tests alone to see if her medications were reaching toxic levels cost $900 every three weeks. This was on top of the $7000 deductible and the $741 monthly insurance costs. So I quit my job so that I could take out money from my retirement program (which I couldn't do unless I quit my job) to pay off all the medical debt. In other words, I gave up my tenured position at a small college, sold my house, moved to a different city and paid for all the associated costs of moving, and my daughter had to change schools. I became a secretary at the state school where I made $14,000 less but had more money in my pocket at the end of every month because I only pay $90 for health insurance and all the drugs and tests are covered. My daughter will stay on my health insurance until she is 26, and so I work for health insurance/to keep my daughter alive. Her primary goal is to get a job where she will be able to literally keep herself alive based on health insurance costs.

I looked at the latest explanation of benefits: her drugs cost $19560 every six weeks. We pay $5. Her last procedure cost over $600,000. How the fuck are these prices possible??? Because of medicine she will be a contributing member of society rather than an invalid or dead. But the costs listed in my EOB are clearly fictional.

I understand that people need to have insurance today for their medical needs. However in a system where the healthy pay for the needs of the unhealthy, there have to be more healthy people that pay and do not receive than there are that receive and do not pay enough for their own care. I am not surprised that in a country that has to go to India to find teachers that know mathematics the general population does not understand math. Unfortunately, math rules and when you screw with the numbers, eventually the whole thing falls apart.

No Neiderlander, you are being unreasonable. I know working people that have paid $4K a month for their health care out of their 401K's and ridiculous rates of over $2K a month for a family that does not go to the doctor more than a couple of times a year for antibiotics. A reasonable price is my argument and I am sorry that you cannot see that. If you need any more explanation I am here for you.
 Quoting: Black Knight

So you know some people are paying what the Gov't says they can afford in health insurance. They don't want to pay it because they're greedy. Your complaints aren't working here, pal.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76136858

OK some people don't want to pay it, because they are selfish miserable greedy ass people, so they CHOOSE, VOLUNTARILY, not to pay. YOU HOWEVER, will send people with guns, if necessary, to steal the money from those people to force them to pay. I'd say the selfish greedy people have the moral high ground on this one.

Re: They Really Have a Lot of Balls Calling It "Healthcare"....
....when basically it is just another Insurance Scam.

 Quoting: Black Knight

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76488298

Well God bless you for sacrificing so for the sake of your daughter. May her health improve as a reward for your effort. I have no issue with the work or the caring that doctors and nurses do for the infirmed, only an issue with the insurances companies, drug companies, lawyers and administrators that rob us all blind.

Here's some truth:
When potential new drugs are screened, the active ones are called inhibitors because they are seeking to inhibit an enzyme, a natural function of the body. The enzyme does not act in isolation, but affects an entire interdependent cascade of enzymes that regulate various functions. One turns off, another turns on, etc. this is where you get side effects. They are not side effects, they are effects. It is not wise to inhibit a natural function of the body for too long, it's there to protect you. You are basically masking symptoms and causing other dangerousl effects.

they run so many scams, so get this, you get same treatment for a ER visit, but they have this rewording things too get more money or less money they put you in a room and call it observation or more money they call it admission

so sad....

Yup, I got a $6500 bill for an ER visit that was a scalp cut that needed 7 staples to close.

Urgent care clinics were closed, but they probably would have made me go to the ER anyway
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75391073

my bill was $7 thousand in a small western town clinic for a broken upper arm.

Wow, that is sad. If our society cannot help those that cannot afford to keep the teeth in their mouths, then how can we have any hope at all?
 Quoting: Black Knight

The most common caricature of poor whites invariably shows missing teeth; that goes back to comic strips decades ago. 'Hillbillies' and 'rednecks.' How often in this country do we ever see any other race of people portrayed like that in public media? We do not see it at all! A poor white is the most accursed, discriminated-against and spat-upon creature in society. What's worse is, he's being spat upon by other whites too. No one will ever help him.

That's zionist carpetbagger 'humor' for you: their contempt for the whites from whom they've stolen everything, including their culture and their heritage, is boundless - and that's who still controls our entire medical industry, all of it, including dental. The poster who says only non-whites are helped when they cannot pay is telling the straight truth.

That doesn't mean we modern whites are worse than other countries and races but what it does mean is that we are no longer any better, in how we treat our own kind, and we had to fall a seriously long drop down to reach that point!

Who ever said that 'white genocide' could only mean being displaced by non-white immigration or even being attacked on our steets? By far the most convenient, least obvious way is simply to withdraw medical help when we need it, especially from those who need it most: the poor and over-worked, the elderly, the children, the disabled.

Teaching our population to accept that state of affairs was easy enough when the same ethnic clique also controls all our public 'education.' Plenty of millennials are already saying that 'euthanasia' of the elderly and ill is better economy that prolonging their lives - but you can't find even one who'd suggest that option for non-whites in similar circumstances, can you?

We're too busy hating and attacking each other to remember how to think as a race so I suppose that unless we're of a most uncommonly resilient stock of survivors, we're just going to be killed off, one tooth, virus or heart attack at a time. We deserve it. We treat each other like shit.

And the "me first", and "I am the center of the universe" mentality that those younger folk coming up have been instilled is only making things worse. I am not the World's greatest philanthropist, but I learn the lesson long ago that a helluva lot more can be achieved by working together with others than by doing everything yourself because you have pissed everybody else off. Unless we change, which I do not think we can do, Natural Selection will certainly cull the herd eventually.

Anything the government gets involved in, turns into sh*t. Why? Because many of our elected officials believe they are entitled to it, and we are here to serve them.
Another reason for Term limits, and Voter I.D. laws.

Those who are elected get not only so full of themselves that they honestly consider themselves to be royalty after a very short time in office and they develop a real disgust for those they are supposed to serve. Once they reach this point they feel entitled to do anything they can to enrich themselves and could not care less about any of the issues that concern the common man. After all, the laws do not apply to THEM do they?
