The problem with the world today
Is that people are too 'intelligent,'
So intelligent that they can't see
What lies beyond their nose,
They become lifted in grandeur of thought
And forget that a rose is a rose

The problem with the world today
Is that people just don't care,
Just like Narcissus, they, fall
In love with the image of self,
And all the while drown in the
Depths of despair

The problem with the world today
Is that we rush to the seductive call of success,
Even though the sky is the limit
There is room at the top only for the best,
And as we wander down eternity road
Truth becomes just a jest,
As we drift, drifting further apart
And wonder why we have all become
Separate and alone

The problem with the world today
Is that people have no character,
We live under the illusion that
We are who we are
But can't see that we are artifacts
A compilation of facts,
In the eyes of the beholder, this
May make them glitter like gold
But man was created with a
Conscience, a heart and a soul

The problem with the world today
Is that the problem is become the golden rule,
Engrained in our brain from birth
Taught to us in our schools,
We go through life thinking that we
Have the answer
That we have found the key,
But every door opened with the mind
Closes a door to our inner being deep inside

The problem with the world today
Is that people can't hear the inner voice
That reminds us of who we really are
That we exist, that I am,
A unique individual, a part in
The whole spectrum of man,
Maybe, just maybe, if for a moment
We would step off that treadmill
That leads to nowhere, and listen
To ourselves, to others,
We would realize just how wretched,
Ugly and inhuman we've all become
And an eclipsed sun, would one day
Shine, and smile upon the beauty
Of a flower
