Though it has to be said that while in many places LEO's are better trained and socialized than ever, there is no "central" standard of training for local police, so some areas could still be hiring/keeping dodgy individuals that they shouldn't be.

The way to punish a cop is to start hideous anonymous rumors about him by complaining to his department and on social media. I learned this from a cop. He said they do it to people they want to bust but can't get anything on all the time knowing people will come out of the woodwork claiming to have evidence. or knowledge of wrongdoing.
