Moreover, just what in the fuck constitutes an “assault rifle”? Any rifle I use to shoot at someone is considered an assault rifle. So an assault rifle includes ALL class of rifles. Same goes for assault weapon.. anything can be an assault weapon if it is possible to use it to assault people with. So, knives, forks, pistols, baseball bats and tree branches are all assault weapons.

We are not playing this game here in the US. There are two types of rifles: civilian and military. Civilian rifles are ALL semi-automatic, meaning every time you pull the trigger (even if you hold it down) it firea exactly 1 (one) round (that’s a bullet for you stupidfucks). A military rifle has a select fire feature which allows you to choose whether you want your rifle to fire semi-automatic or FULL automatic (that is, as long as you hold the trigger down it continues to fire until you run out of rounds and have to reload). Some military rifles have 2 or 3 round burst options instead of full auto (and some have burst options as well as full auto). A burst is exactly like it sounds: you pull the trigger and even if you hold it down the rifle only fires a 3 round burst (or 2 depending on the military rifle).

Onviously military rifles are made for combat. Military rifles also come in the light machine gun category which are designed to fire long bursts or automatic fire without failing.

Civilians CAN buy these in the US, but it requires very deep background checks before the ATF will approve a tax stamp that allows you to buy such a firearm. It is also wildly expensive to buy such firearms. To the tune of 6,000 dollars and upwards into the tens of thousands.

So as you can see, there is no such thing as “assault rifles.” There are only civilian rifles and military rifles. According to the constitution, we should be allowed to buy and own military rifles. But we settled for simply having civilan rifles for civilians and military rifle for the military.

Oh and NO, the armalite 15 (known as the AR-15) was designed and sold as a HUNTING rifle before the military requested a fully automatic version and called it the M-16. It was NEVER a rifle designed for military use and then sold to civilians.. it was THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
