5 Stars OP! You couldn't be more spot on. Ive got four pits, and they play with other dogs , goats, and chickens. They are like a big family. But in our household family is everything, and all of our animals are loved and protected.

When a coyote or anything aggressive comes along, the chickens and goats run to the dogs to be protected. My pits even allow the chickens to lay eggs in their dog house.

Its how you love your animals. Dogs are pack animals and naturally territorial. You isolate any dog and don't love it and they naturally become for aggressive. Ive raised pits for over 40 years now exclusively, and have never had an incident with a dog being aggressive towards a human. But from before they open their eyes they are taught vigorously not to use their mouth to show affection much less to bite.

Stfu..my pit is laying on my bed right now..she is a rescue that didn't try to fight back so the people who owned her thru her on the side of the road all mangled..love my dog and I would kill you if you tried anything towards her

Always when pits are brought up. Its funny the ol chap talking about devil dogs. All four of mine are registered "red devil" its the only ones I trust. Red devil is a reference to the eye color they make at night when you shine a flashlight in their eyes, their eyes glow red. All my dogs are purple ribbon dogs that ive payed a good deal of money for. I love my dogs, but you probably don't want to wander around at night in the woods where I live, my dogs are protective.

I disagree. I wish I could post the pics of Sheba when that Boxer/Great Dane got a hold of her.She had so many bites on her you couldn't count them, besides the 5 five inch lacerations on her side. I was beating the attacking dog and couldn't get it to stop.Sheba was leashed, the attacking dog came running out of the owners house.

The big dog in the right of my posted picture, Rufus, almost died a couple of months after this pic was taken. A Chow/Collie mix, which had a history of biting people and killing dogs and cats, came running into our yard and made a beeline for my husband and I. We were sitting on our patio, with Rufus laying at our feet.Rufus jumped up and got between us.Rufus, who was a very massive dog, was critically injured. His muzzle was bitten through several times, all the way through to his mouth. His face was shredded. He almost bled to death, as we rushed him to the Vet. It sure took a lot of force to bite through bone in his skull several times.FYI, Rufus survived, but his face was never the same, and the scars on his muzzle were prominent.
FTR, the Chow/Collie was put down, we had a huge Vet bill, and the attacking dogs owner had no income, and we never were reimbursed.Our city Animal Control failed, as this dog should have been put down after he bit the first person and/or killed another neighbors pet. The owner should have got jail time, IMO. This dog had attacked a bunch of kids walking to school earlier that day.

When I had my ducks, my female Duck, Quackers, would go up to my dogs and peck. Neither one would do anything but walk away from her, lol!
I have never had any type of a Bull Terrier before we got Sheba.I have had Dobe/Shepard mix, Austrian Shepard, Beagle, Husky mix,several Labs, total Mutts, Chow,etc.I would not hesitate to get another dog like Sheba.She is a big slobber puss love puppy !

Y'all who defend the wonderful, lovable Pit Bull breed should try living in an area with low IQ folks sometime.

I've been charged by no less than 4 Pit Bull/Pit Bull mixes in as many years, in all situations.

Getting groceries out of my car.

In a elementary school parking lot.

Walking my dog...

Had my car damaged by someone who jumped on it to get away from a charging Pit Bull mix...

Sheba is a rescue also. I got her when she was 5 months old. Her previous owners kept her locked in the basement.Sheba is deaf. The previous owner said he couldn't do anything with her because she couldn't hear. We taught Sheba a modified form of sign language, and our old dog Rufus taught her how to play. We never had a problem with her.

I live in a low income mixed neighborhood. Not quite the ghetto, but close to it.We have been attacked almost a dozen times over the years, and only 2 were Pit Bulls.

BTW, I LOVE dogs.

I was bitten by a German Shepherd dog as a child and was never afraid of them, even raised my own for some time.

Was Jumped on by a HUGE Bully in the street last year, but saw the playful pup in him and wasn't the least worried.

I just cannot express enough that those who claim that the Pit Bull breed is kind and loving and would never harm anyone throughout it's entire life are seriously uninformed about the real world in which most of us live.

Need to be careful with that, a pack of coyotes will kill your dogs if they are drawn in. Around here it's not uncommon to have packs of 15-20 yotes, no dog would stand a chance.

Save her dna and make puppies.

The problem is mostly the dog owners. The kind of owners that are attracted to owning pitbulls can be problematic. An inexperienced dog owner can handle a pitbull like an inexperienced driver can handle a Lamborghini. There are vicious dogs of all breeds. My brother got attacked by a standard poodle when we were kids. A good pitbull, with owners that know how to handle them is a great dog.

Neither should Irish, they are always drunk and could hurt a child.

You are right.. I am not really a dog person, but live in an area where a lot of people have dogs and most of them are idiots, don't understand that dogs should not be "humanized".. because they are pack animals.. if the human isn't the pack leader the dogs will simply take over and run the pack (family) as 'the alpha".. and then animal nature, huniting sinstinct will come to the forefront.. that's how all those terrible accidents happen..

The breed is a problem. This pit, if you believe the story, can go psycho the next minute and attack and kill another person or pet.

They cant be trusted and they should be banned everywhere.

You will nevet convince intelligent peopld that pit bulls are gentle and not inherently vicious. So give it up!
