Where's Doc Savage?!

Maybe I'm wrong here. Maybe I'm hearing more than what's said. But maybe not.

Long long ago, American scientists were curious about the brain. They wanted to know more about it, so they dove in, quite literally, with a scalpel.

They began to notice some similarities between patients who had this similar procedure--a labotomy, where the surgeons would rub a scalpel back and forth on one section of the brain. (which they called the 'windshield wiper experiment'

After that procedure, all patients who were involved became


lazy
lethargic
uninspired to do what they once did
lost initiative to do what they once wanted to do
they all had a tremendous desire for sameness
(they had to eat the same foods, listen to the same musics, dress the same all the time) and if anything disrupted their ability to wear those clothes or listen to that music, they would fall apart emotionally
patients couldn't focus on single minded tasks
they coudln't learn anything new
couldn't modify behavior. (Learning results in modifying behavior)
they coudln't plan/project ideas into the future. (couldn't understand basic cause/effect principals of actions)
