It's in large part due to the MSM brainwashing and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc).

My mom, brothers, niece and nephews are all liberal. Their facebook feeds are littered with so much vitriol. They watch a steady stream of CNN and MSNBC. They really believe everything the MSM is feeding them and they have a smug, self-righteous air about them - they really believe they are "on the right side of history".

It leaves me feeling sad and disgusted. They are stubborn and angry if anyone has a pov different than theirs.

The reason it happens like this is that the vast majority of people are incapable of self thought. Most people have very average IQs. They tend to let other seemingly important people (people on tv and in power) tell them how they should feel and accept certain ideologies.

So if the media they follow says that Trump is an evil green alien monster who eats children, at first they would laugh at the stupidity, but as other media outlets picked up the story and kept repeating it over and over again, and had panels of “experts” and important figures all saying the same thing.. eventually they would believe it.

Of course, that description pushes the limit a lot, but the close you come to a believable lie, the easier it is for people to accept. Even if the lie is extreme in its believability (Trump beats on melania). Make fake news, let everyone run with it.. and the little stupid fucks all accept it as reality.

Do you remember those group projects in your classes at school? Do you remember those students that never contributed anything but shared in the grades for that project, grades that someone else created? The teachers used that "group grade" to pass them to the next grade level.

They didn't just go away after high school! This is them. They can only manage group/hive think, through subjective reasoning, and they never achieved any "critical thinking" abilities, always relying on a group to guide them.
