I have travelled to many parts of Russia over a considerable time period .
You are looking at a City centre .
Once you move to the suburbs it is a million per cent different , run down and soul numbing . Once you move to the country , it is third world .
As much as I love certain aspects of Russia -- and ordinary people are great --- the country is more obviously run for the elite ( say top 3% ) than the US .

...and that differs how, other than our rural areas aren't all third world? Our CITIES ARE...its reversed. That's because our leadership top 3% who RUN the cities live behind GATED COMMUNITIES.

My grandson was just there for the World Cup. Russian guys invited him to drink vodka shots in a park in St. Petersburg after their 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia. They had a great time! Lots of fun photos! From there he visited Moscow. He loved it!

I was in Russia (Moscow and St Pete) about ten years ago. Both are beautiful, modern, and clean cities. From what I saw, cleaner and safer than major U.S. cities.
