NY memorial to MOH recipient Murphy is vandalized; state will pay for replacement

Apparently, some 14 year old little shit decided to destroy a Medal Of Honor Memorial for Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who died fighting in Operation Redwing in Afghanistan.

New York state will pay to replace a memorial to slain Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient that was smashed to pieces at a Long Island lake, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday.

The new stone, inscribed with the image of Lt. Michael P. Murphy and his Medal of Honor, is expected be nearly impossible to shatter.

Suffolk County Police said Thursday in a statement they were investigating “a recent act of vandalism” at the park named for the fallen SEAL in Lake Ronkonkoma, where Murphy once worked as a lifeguard. On Friday, police said a 14-year-old male was charged with 2nd degree criminal mischief.

Lt. Murphy exposed himself to enemy fire in order to get a signal strong enough to call for help. RIP.
