Mattel is cutting over 2,200 workers after sales plummeted in the Toys "R" Us aftermath

Probable has to do with many children now being entertained by computer games and phone game apps.
Toy sales go down whith the intro of digital toys.

Given mattel has made everything in China for years, I could care less what their plight might be. The plants being shut down are in Mexico. BoHoHoHo

Children simply do not play with toys any longer past the age of 3 or 4.

It's a real bad sign for what's coming.

Girls don't play with Barbie anymore. And the little old ladies who made a big deal about collecting Holiday Barbie and all the other collectible ones have passed on.

When I was a kid 40 years ago my mom sued Mattel because their fireman's helmet turned my hair yellow. Lol. My mom is a bleeding heart liberal who doesn't talk to a single person in the family including me. She is honestly despicable. That being said. I would hire about 10 or so of these employees if they need work and they are willing to work hard. Full circle is amazing.

Kids play with iPhones and I pads, GI Joes and barbies require imagination and push awful gender stereotypes( sarcasm). So it's either trumps fault or as I remember there were several lawsuits over lead paint, toxic plastics, date rape drug infused beads ( yep several kids went comatose after ingesting some of those wet and form beads) etc etc etc.. but yeah totally trumps tariffs are killing Mattel not stupid mistakes in manufacturing materials, shortsightedness in predicting consumer trends and expecting people working at slave labor wages would rat out their bosses for using deadly chemicals in products.

Go outside the world is vastly more interesting than any phone or toy

even a parking lot

but especially wherever there are trees....
