Maybe, but who the hell turns onto a side road blindly while looking at their phone. It could have been a kid standing there and he would have killed them, no turn signal either.

The cop seemed genuine and at least owned up to it being his fault. Some cops would jump out with their gun drawn and tell you to get on the ground as if you were at fault.

You're right the cop did own up, good for him but it still is a bad look that could result in a lawsuit.

In Texas it is illegal to be on your phone (unless handsfree) while driving unless you have a map app up.

If Texas cops are immune to that law, that is total bullshit.

yeah, i mean emotional distress and all that? maybe you're too scared to ever go on a bike ride again and it will impact your health and well being. The damage to your bike, not to mention the severe scratches and bruises.
